Tic Tac Toe Game For ESL classes

I always use a 5-10minutes game when I feel that my learners need a little bit of a break-time, and a fun activity to relax.
Tic Tac Toe (or Noughts and Crosses )

I assume that everyone is familiar with this game. If not it works like that:

1. Draw the board: Draw the board, which is made up of a 3x3 grid of squares
2. Have the first player to start with an 'X'
3. Have the second player go second with an 'O'
4. To win you have to creative a row of three (horizontan, vertical or diagonal )

Tic Tac Toe (or Noughts and Crosses )in ESL

Let's say we have a group of young learners who are learning adjectives:

First divide the class in two teams. The Team 1 has to choose a word and makes a sentence, if the sentence is correct then you can draw an 'X', if the sentence is wrong then the word stays like that without any 'X'.

Example: The elephant is big. CORRECT, Draw an X
The second team now chooses a word to make a sentence, again if the sentence is correct draw an 'O' , if the sentence is wrong continue the game with the team 1.
Example: I have eyes small INCORRECT, Don't draw anything
The team who creative a row of three wins the game

This is a great game to help learners build sentences and use the target vocabulary in sentences.
And of course you can use it with different words, with adults and all levels
My learners really enjoy this activity. Hope you'll too :D
